So what's your opinion on the 2016 decision? I found it odd that a lot of local Chicagoans were thrilled that Rio was chosen over the Windy City. Mayor Daley is getting a ton of criticism over how he handled the whole thing.
Just imagine in Toronto was in the running!!!
Now, where did I put that pint o' Guinness....
I believe our Country is in no shape to hold the 2016 Olympic Games. We are still ridden with debt. Our economy is still so fragile and we do not know if the bernanke bucks will actually save the day. We do not produce any goods of sum sort. Brazil is a leading commodity export driven economy. GDP is on the plus side. We cant borrow more Money from China when we have two wars, financial system collapse, currency crisis, housing with commercial being the possible next shoe, a weak auto industry, health care reform, swine flu???? What else can you add to the list? Oh ya lets give money to Mayor Daily. That money will go straight to BHO and the MOB.Chicago has the highest murder capital in the US, also I don't think the deadly beating that occurred on the South side helped.
Yeah, its a little bit of a let down for people in Chicago but its a big accomplishment for Brazil. I believe this is the first time that the Olympics have been hosted in South America, why has it taken this long? There might have been some anti-American sentiment in the vote given the speed at which Chicago was eliminated, but I'm not surprised. We haven't exactly been doing great things on this planet the past decade or so.
Are we ready for the Olympics? Sure, we could handle it fine and it would be a little boost for our big struggling economy. On the other hand, Rio is a beautiful place with rapidly growing economy. Good for them, and good for South America!
